Week of 4/9

Updated on 06/10/2022 | Joan Herrington

Good Afternoon Players and Parents,
We have a busy tennis week ahead!
Monday 4/9:  Practice at Health Club of Concord 3-4:30
Tuesday 4/10:  Tennis match versus Exeter AWAY at Exeter (this match is away, not home as it appears on our website).  All varsity players dismissed at 1:45; bus leaves promptly at 2:00 (As this was scheduled as a home match, Cimo’s subs will not be provided, please bring your own).  I will provide water and snacks for this game.
Wednesday 4/11:Tennis match AWAY at Londonderry.  No early dismissal, bus leaves promptly at 2:50.  (I will bring Cimo’s subs and water and snacks)
Thursday 4/12:  Practice at Health Club of Concord 3-4:30
Friday:  4/13 Tennis Match at Home vs. Concord (This home match will be played at Memorial Field).*  All varsity and jv players are expected to attend.
Finally, we are still waiting for Spring weather to arrive, so please pack plenty of warm clothing to both play in and to stay warm in when not playing!  See you all tomorrow.

Quote of the Day: " Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, you’re right.” —Henry Ford

*  Our home matches have historically been played at Memorial Field in Concord, but, this year Concord is in the middle of resurfacing these courts and only 5 of the 10 are playable.  Since only 5 courts are available, Concord High will be using them for their boys and girls teams; and Brady needs a new home for its home games this season.  I will designate where our home matches are to be played as soon as I know.  Thanks for your patience.

Last Chance to Order Apparel and Monte Carlo Night

Updated on 06/10/2022 | Joan Herrington

Sending a friendly reminder from our A.D., Annie Alosa, that  our Brine team apparel stores are intended to close tomorrow night (Sunday 3/25)  by 11pm. "I know it is a busy week and people have a lot going on (many have probably forgotten) but I want to make sure everyone is reminded of the team store and everyone gets a chance to order if they want and choose. The more Brady apparel we get and rock the better ?? we want our Giant name and colors to be seen everywhere we can!"  (My 2 cents:  In the past, the spring apparel order has arrived well into a short spring season.  But, Ms. Alosa has been working near miracles all year with brine team sales, receiving both fall and winter orders on time, and I am more optimistic than ever, that our apparel orders will arrive promptly—assuming she can close the store tomorrow night!)

With that being said, here is the link to the online store.

Also, I’d like to extend an invitation to attend Bishop Brady’s Second Annual Monte Carlo Night on Saturday, April 14 in the Thomas M. Hardiman Gymasium at Bishop Brady.  I attended this event last year, and truly had a great time.  The event has all the excitement of a casino, with professional games, good food, a couple drinks, great company for only $20/ticket.  It really was the most fun fundraiser I think I’ve ever attended, and without a doubt the most fun to be had in NH in April!   Lee and I have our tickets, and we hope to see all our Brady Girls Tennis parents there!  All money raised goes to the Brady Tuition Assistance and Team Activities Funds.  Here’s the link to Monte Carlo Night

Lastly, I don’t think I have email addresses for all parents.  So, players, if your parents are not receiving these team emails, please forward me their addresses.  Thanks and have a great weekend.

Cordially,

Joan Herrington

Tennis Week of 3/26-3/30

Updated on 06/10/2022 | Joan Herrington

We are happy and excited to begin a new season of Bishop Brady Tennis.  We are pleased to see the improvement in our returning players and their willingness to work hard at practice.  Thank you girls, and keep it up!  We have some newcomers to our team this year who are enthused about tennis, and working hard to learn a new sport —welcome!

I will be communicating to our team via email and the bishopbradyathletics.com site.  I don’t have all parent email addresses, I welcome parents  to receive my weekly emails, so please email me back with your address and I will add it to my list!

We are getting new uniform jerseys this season, the only piece of apparel you must buy is a white tennis skirt.  As long as the skirt is solid white, it doesn’t matter where you buy your skirt, or what brand.  All  players, including our new members, must buy a white tennis skirt.

Our schedule for the week of 3/26 is as follows:

Monday 3/26: 3-4:30

Tuesday 3/27: 3-4:30

Wednesday 3/28: 3-4:30

Thursday 3/29: 3-4:30

Friday 3/30:  Good Friday.  No Formal Practice Allowed.

My quote for today:  I played the game one way.  I gave it everything I had.  It doesn’t take any ability to hustle.—Wade Boggs

Attention all Bishop Brady Girls Interested in Tennis this Spring.

Updated on 06/10/2022 | Joan Herrington

I hope you all had a wonderful summer, and that you had plenty of opportunities to pick up your racquet and play tennis for fun.  If you would like the opportunity to work on your game, or just keep the rust off, I have good news for you!  Mr. Pattu Pilai, the tennis pro at Health Club of Concord, has made me aware of two ways to work on your game this fall.

Sunday-night tennis - 6:00-7:00 pm, starting 10/8, cost $12/per person.  Sunday-night tennis is an opportunity to improve your game by playing tennis with players from other local schools with some instruction by Pattu.

Tuesday 3:30-4:30 Group-tennis lesson -  Tuesday group lessons are perfect for those players who would benefit from instruction to improve their strokes/serve/volley. Cost is likely $15/per person.  I have watched Pattu give our tennis players a group lesson, and I can assure you that Pattu does a great job teaching the basics of tennis while his students are having fun!

This is a great opportunity to get a good workout in, improve your tennis, and have fun.  If you are interested, or have more questions, you must contact Pattu Pilai  (call him or text him-he is  quick to respond to text messages!) at (603)496-4267.
